Agartala: CM Manik Saha on Friday said about 80% of Tripura’s panchayats have emerged as frontrunners on the national stage, adding that development must translate into meaningful improvements in people’s lives.Inaugurating the state-based Panchayat Awards for 2026-27, Saha said about 80% of Tripura’s panchayats have set themselves apart on numerous national metrics. He said efforts at the panchayat level have gained recognition across India, pointing out that with 75% of the population living in villages and panchayat regions, their progress is vital.Saha announced a new initiative to award 51 honours based on various criteria, underscoring Tripura’s multiple national achievements. Specifically, the Sepahijala district received the accolade for best district, while Kanchanbari Gram Panchayat was named the country’s best healthy panchayat.
