Hyderabad: Eight people, including seven children, drowned in three separate incidents across the state on Friday.In the first incident, a 31-year-old woman and two teenagers drowned in the Manjeera river at Budimi village in Banswada mandal of Kamareddy district on Friday evening.The incident happened when relatives of T Pandari from Kamareddy had gathered at Kankaragadda Yellamma temple in Budimi village to attend a function organised by Pandari. Among the guests were Pandari’s brother-in-law L Narsimhulu, his wife Anitha, 31, their children, Shivani, 13, and eight-year-old Srikanth.Around 4pm, after the function, Anitha, her daughter Shivani, and other relatives – Pavanisree, 15, Bhanu Prasad, 14, and Sujatha, 35 – went to the bank of the nearby Manjeera river to attend nature’s call.“Bhanu accidentally fell into the Manjeera. Sujatha, Anitha, Shivani and Pavanisree immediately entered the river to rescue him. On hearing their screams, I, along with others, rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Bhanu and Sujatha. But my wife Anitha, our daughter Shivani and Pavanisree drowned in the river,” Narsimhulu told police.Narsimhulu, along with locals, later searched the river and retrieved the bodies.“They were shifted to the Govt Area Hospital in Banswada, where the duty medical officer declared them brought dead,” Pitlam SI B Anjaneyulu said.In the second incident, three children drowned in a village tank at Limbadrigutta in Bheemgal mandal in Nizamabad district on Friday. The deceased were identified as Harish, 10, five-year-old Varshini and four-year-old Arvind, all residents of Vaddera Colony in Limbadrigutta.Bheemgal police received an alert from locals at 4.30 pm on Friday about some children missing in Limbadrigutta. D Suresh, 30, a mason, lodged a complaint stating that his younger son, Arvind, had gone missing after leaving the house, and his clothes were found on the bank of Brahmana Kunta in the village, along with the clothes of two other children, Harish and Varshini, from the neighbourhood.The bodies of the children were fished out from the tank late in the evening and shifted for post-mortem examination.In the third incident, two teenagers, Sohail, 14, and Abdul Rehman, 15, from Nimmagaddabavi, drowned when they were playing in Erracheruvu at Kistampally village near Jadcherla in in Mahabubnagar district on Friday evening. Police fished out the bodies in the night.In all the three cases, police registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
