Vadodara: Devotees visiting a temple in Por village on Tuesday morning were in for a scare when they spotted an eight-foot-long crocodile trapped behind an iron grill within the temple premises. The reptile was seen attempting to crawl out of the fence causing panic among the residents.Locals immediately alerted the forest department which dispatched a rescue team to the spot. The volunteers carefully captured the crocodile and later released it into Dhadhar river.According to temple authorities, the incident was linked to the recent flooding of Dhadhar. The river has been overflowing for the past four days and floodwaters are believed to have brought several crocodiles into nearby villages.A priest at the temple said the reptile had become trapped behind the iron grill after being swept into the area. The rescue operation was completed without any injury to the animal.
