Kanpur: Seven years after a real estate firm promised land to the families of soldiers killed in the Pulwama terror attack, two widows from Kanpur got plots registered in their names on Tuesday. Directors of Triyam Realtech, based in Dayanand Vihar, Indiranagar, Kalyanpur, completed the registration of 100-square-yard plots for the families of Pradeep Singh Yadav of Kalyanpur, Kanpur, and Shyam Babu of Raigaon in Derapur tehsil of Kanpur Dehat. The gift deeds were registered in court for Yadav’s wife, Neeraj Yadav, and Shyam Babu’s wife, Ruby Devi. The registration was carried out through advocate Dinesh Shukla, brother of company director Pankaj Shukla. The Pulwama attack took place on Feb 14, 2019, in Jammu and Kashmir, in which several soldiers were killed. Among those from the region were Pradeep Singh Yadav, Shyam Babu, and Ajit Kumar Gautam alias Azad of Purwa in Unnao. Company officials had visited the homes of the three martyrs after the attack and announced they would give each family 100 square yards of land as a gesture of support. Pankaj Shukla said the third plot, for the family of Ajit Kumar Gautam, would be provided in Unnao and the gift deed would be registered there soon. After the registration, both widows said they were relieved that the commitment made to their families had been fulfilled. They also became emotional while recalling the days surrounding the attack. Neeraj Yadav said her husband left Kanpur for Jammu on Feb 10, 2019, reached the next day, and was killed in the Feb 14 attack. She said she later learned of his death through television and a call from Army officers, and has since been raising their three children, two daughters aged 17 and 8 and a six-year-old son. Ruby Devi said she last spoke to her husband on Feb 14 and later received the news through family members after Army officers arrived. She said she has two sons, aged 11 and 7, and described the company’s follow-through as a rare gesture.
