Vadodara: A 69-year-old man with three children and grandchildren was arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman with learning disabilities in a village in Lunawada taluka of Panchmahal district, police said.The offence was allegedly perpetrated on Wednesday evening, when the woman stepped out for a walk, as part of her routine. The accused, a distant relative of the woman, allegedly called her into his house and raped her. Lunawada deputy superintendent of police Kamlesh Vasava said the man sent his wife out to buy milk before calling the woman inside. Sources said the accused used a pillow to muffle the woman’s cries. Vasava said that despite her disabilities, the woman was able to tell her parents what had happened. He added that her clothes were dishevelled when she returned home. An FIR was registered on Thursday and the accused was arrested on Friday. Medical examinations were conducted on both the accused and the victim, Vasava said, adding that further tests, including a potency test, may be carried out on the accused. He said the man has two sons and a daughter. “All of them are married and have children too. They are settled outside the village,” he added.
