Navi Mumbai: A 66-year-old woman residing in the slum colony along KKR road in Turbhe store area was murdered by strangulation and her body stuffed in a gunny sack was found dumped below the streetlight about 300 metres away from her house on Tuesday early morning. Turbhe police have registered an FIR of murder against an unidentified accused.Abasaheb Patil, senior inspector of Turbhe informed that, the murder victim has been identified as Azrunnisa Abdul Waheed Khan, residing at room number 3801 in Shivshakti Nagar, KKR road in Turbhe store area along the Thane-Belapur road. A murder case was registered after a complaint by her son Abdul Hamid Wahid Khan (41).Investigating officer, PI (admin) Gajanan Kadam said, “On Monday around 5.30 pm, the victim woman Khan had left home to buy groceries. As she did not return home till late night, her son Abdul searched her but in vain. Hence, he lodged her missing complaint on Monday night. On Tuesday, around 3 am, her body stuffed in a gunny sack was found dumped near a blue barrel kept under the streetlight in front of house number 265 in Shivshakti Nagar about 300 metres away from her house. She was killed by strangulation.”Kadam said, “The CCTV footage showed her walking along the Thane-Belapur road around 5.45 pm on Monday. Thereafter, she is not spotted. The complainant has claimed that her mother was wearing gold ornaments and they are missing. Hence, the murder motive is suspected to be robbery, which is yet to be ascertained. We are also probing from other possible angles for her murder. The woman was probably murdered at some other location and her body was dumped by the unidentified accused past midnight.”
