Hyderabad: In a case of drunk driving, a 65-year-old resident of Bandlaguda died after the two-wheeler he was riding pillion on was hit by a truck late in the night on Wednesday. Police said the truck driver was drunk at the time of the accident.According to RGIA police, the victim, Mohammed Jaffar, was returning home from a wedding function along with his friend, Sheikh Aslam, when the accident took place.“At around 11.30, their two-wheeler was hit by a truck at Satamrai in Shamshabad. Both of them were injured and shifted to a local hospital. Jaffar succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment,” said RGIA police. His friend, Aslam, was discharged on Thursday afternoon.Based on a complaint by Jaffar’s son, cops registered a case under Sections 106 (negligence causing death) and 125 (endangering human life) of the BNS against the accused truck driver, Yadadri, and arrested him.“The locals present at the site caught the truck driver and found him drunk. He was handed over the policemen who reached the spot on being alerted by them,” said police.A driver was made to undergo an alcohol test on the spot where his blood alcohol count (BAC) was found to be 156 mg/100 ml against the permissible 30 mg/100 ml.RGIA sub-inspector N Sridhar said the accused was travelling to the city from Shadnagar when one of his lorry’s tyres deflated enroute. He consumed liquor while getting the tyre repaired and later resumed his journey to the city. He was headed to Bandlaguda.
