Srinagar, Sep 18: Jammu & Kashmir has recorded 6,440 apprentices engaged under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), the data accessed by Rising Kashmir reveals.
According to the Apprenticeship Performance Dashboard, a total of 843 establishments are presently engaged, while 1,439 apprentices are shown as ongoing as on the date. It also shows 3,875 apprentices completed training, 1,617 assessed and 1,038 certified.
It further records Rs 1,570 crore in DBT paid, with the figure marked “as on 03/07/2026.”
The geographical-ranking panel places Jammu & Kashmir at 6,440 engaged apprentices, comprising 3,861 under the category labelled “optional” and 2,579 under “designated.” These two figures add exactly to the dashboard’s overall engagement figure of 6,440.
The sector-wise chart shows Retail at the top with 931 apprentices, followed by Electrical (including New and Renewable Energy) with 806, Textile with 675, IT-ITeS with 584 and Banking, Financial Services & Insurance with 567.
Construction and Tourism & Hospitality each account for 392 apprentices. They are followed by Life Sciences (305), Power (273), Automotive (206), Automobile (193), Services including Repair and Maintenance (166), Food Processing (145) and Production and Manufacturing (145).
The chart also records 85 in Telecom, 66 in Agriculture, 66 in Management & Entrepreneurship, 63 in Apparel, 61 in Rubber and 55 in Logistics.
The qualification-wise chart records 1,541 apprentices with 12th qualification, the largest combined category shown. This is followed by 10th pass with 2,079, ITI with 1,102, Graduate with 847 and Below Metric with 545.
The remaining figures are 226 Post Graduate, 62 Diploma, 17 others, 16 in 11th and 5 where data is not available.
Importantly, these qualification figures add up to exactly 6,440, matching the dashboard’s total engaged apprentices.
The course panel headed “Top 10 Enrolled Courses” displays Electrician with 1,057 enrolments, the largest figure on the chart.
Other prominent courses include Business Correspondence v4.0 (399 including both male and female), Retail Sales Assistant (297 combined), Ring Frame Doffer and Tenter (shown at 272 male plus a smaller female component), Retail Trainee Associate (274 combined) and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (263 combined).
