PALGHAR: A 60-year-old farmer was killed after being struck by the luggage compartment lid of a Shivshahi bus that suddenly opened while the bus was travelling along the Palghar-Manor road on Friday evening.The deceased, Subhash Pagi, was a resident of Chahade-Sajjanpada in Palghar. Pagi had gone to visit relatives in Devkhop on Friday morning and was walking back home when the incident occurred.According to police, the Shivshahi bus was travelling from the Palghar depot towards Swargate via Manor at around 5.15pm when its luggage compartment lid suddenly opened. The lid hit Pagi with force, leaving him seriously injured. He collapsed on the road and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Pagi is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. His sudden death has left the family facing a difficult situation.Pagi’s son-in-law, Anil Girhane, later approached Palghar police and lodged a complaint. Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the luggage compartment lid opening.
