Anantnag, October 7: In the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, a fire broke out at Qazi Mohalla in Anantnag, affecting a total of six residential-cum-commercial structures, officials said.
Officials told Rising Kashmir that the fire call was received at around 1:34 AM, following which the turnout was made at 1:35 AM. Fire & Emergency Services teams from Fire Headquarters Anantnag, Fire Station Mattan and Fire Station City Chowk were immediately dispatched to the spot.
Water bowsers from Fire Headquarters Anantnag were also mobilised to augment the firefighting operation and ensure an adequate supply of water at the site.
During the firefighting efforts, SGFM Khalid Bashir (No. 1796) sustained injuries. He was subsequently shifted to Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, for treatment.
Officials said that six residential-cum-commercial structures were affected in the incident. The exact extent of damage is being assessed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is being ascertained as part of an investigation by the concerned authorities.
No loss of lives were reported in this incident.
