PALWAL: Six devotees, including three women, were killed and 14 others seriously injured after a Tata pickup carrying a group of pilgrims rammed into a truck parked along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Palwal district in the early hours of Tuesday.The collision took place when the devotees were travelling towards Vrindavan after visiting religious sites in Rajasthan. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were badly damaged, leaving the passengers trapped and injured.The group, comprising around 21 people from Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh, had left their villages on Friday to visit religious sites. On Monday evening, they visited the Khatu Shyam temple and Salasar Balaji temple in Rajasthan before starting their journey towards Vrindavan in Mathura.According to police, the pickup reached the KMP Expressway in Palwal district early Tuesday when it crashed into the truck that was parked on the roadside.The collision triggered panic among the passengers, with cries for help heard from the mangled vehicle. Passersby reached the spot and began rescue efforts before informing the police and emergency services.The injured were taken to the District Civil Hospital in Palwal, where doctors declared six people dead. The deceased have been identified as Vijay Singh, Raj Kumar, Reshma Devi, Kamla Devi, Sudha and Mahesh.The 14 others were injured and are undergoing treatment at Palwal Civil Hospital.Police have taken the bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem examination.Cops are waiting for the families of the deceased to reach the hospital and complete the identification and other formalities before conducting the autopsies.
