Kanpur: In action taken in codeine syrup case, the Varanasi Commissionerate police seized five movable and immovable properties worth Rs 5.18 crore in Kanpur belonging to alleged kingpin of the codein racket Vinod Agrawal, resident of Patkapur, Pheelkhana police station area in Kanpur, and his relatives on Thursday.Sarnath ACP Vidush Saxena said that the regional drug inspector in Sarnath filed a case against kingpin Vinod Agrawal in the codeine syrup case. Police said that Vinod Agrawal was the main accused in the case registered at Collectorganj police station in Kanpur district. He was found to have transactions worth approximately Rs 6-7 crores with illegal firms MK Health Care and Peeli Pharma related to the cough syrup case registered in Sarnath.Police said that in action under Section 68F NDPS Act (SAFEMA), ACP and SHO Sarnath along with a police team reached Kanpur on Thursday to seize the properties belonging to Vinod and his family acquired through illegally earned money.
