Jaipur: State education department has directed district education officers to ensure schools record students’ attendance daily after a report found that 545 schools had failed to do so between July 1 and Sept 5. The lapses made it difficult to determine whether children were attending school and participating in classroom education.
District education officers were instructed to “ensure 100% entry of daily student attendance on the ‘Shala Darpan’ portal across all govt schools” .
For schools failing to submit data, “the reasons must be obtained from the respective heads of Institutions and the issue resolved.”
Officials were asked to prioritise districts and schools that recor a high number of instances of non-submission.
An official said regular and complete attendance records are crucial for state-level educational monitoring, reviews and real-time data availability on Vidya Samiksha Kendra platform.
State education department established Vidya Samiksha Kendra in 2024 to track student attendance in real time and identify problems such as dropouts and seasonal absence from classes.
Attendance is monitored to identify patterns in students missing classes or shortages of resources, enabling appropriate action, the official said.
