Jaipur: The 51st Sub-Junior and Junior National Yogasana Championships, under the aegis of the Yoga Federation of India, will be held from Oct 3 to 6 at Alankar Women’s PG College in Jaipur.Around 925 athletes from 29 states and union territories will participate in the four-day competition. In addition, more than 200 national referees, technical officials, and other officials will be involved.Dr Abhinav Joshi, general secretary of the Yoga Sports Association of Rajasthan and secretary general of the Yoga Federation of India, while addressing a news conference here on Monday said that the competition is being organised by the Jaipur Yoga League in association with the Yoga Sports Association of Rajasthan. Former cabinet minister and chairperson of Alankar Women’s PG College, Lalchand Kataria, will be the patron of the organising committee. Organising committee coordinator Anil Vyas and president of the Yoga Sports Association of Rajasthan, Dr Sher Singh, along with technical officials, volunteers, and organising committee members, are busy making arrangements.Joshi informed that around 715 players will participate in the National Yogasana Championship, while around 210 players will participate in the artistic solo, artistic pair, rhythmic yoga and free flow yoga events.The players will demonstrate technique, flexibility, strength, balance, concentration and artistic presentation in yogasana. He informed that in the championship, there will be competitions in six categories.There will be different age groups of boys and girls of 8 to 10, 10 to 12, 12 to 14, 14 to 16 and 16 to 18 years in the national yogasana meet.Joshi informed that the meeting of national referees and officials will be held on October 2 at 6.30pm. The competition will be inaugurated on Oct 3 at 10am. The main yogasana competition will begin on Oct 3 at 2pm, and the competitions will be held on Oct 4 and 5 from 8am to 7pm. The Annual General Meeting of the Yoga Federation of India will also be held on October 3 at 6.30pm, in which the presidents and secretaries of the affiliated states and union territories will participate. The prize distribution and closing ceremony will be held on Oct 6 at 11am.Federation engaged in the development of yoga sports since 1974The Yoga Federation of India was established in 1974 and has been working to promote yoga as a sport in the country for more than five decades. The federation has organised 50 national yoga sports competitions so far. The 50th Golden Jubilee Senior National Yoga Sports Championship was held in Mysore in October 2025, and the 50th Sub-Junior and Junior National Championships were held in Ranchi in December 2025.According to the federation, Indian yoga athletes have represented the country in various international competitions, including Asian competitions. The federation is also affiliated with the Asian Yoga Federation and the International Yoga Sports Federation.
