Times News NetworkKanpur: A 50-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself with a licensed gun at his home in the Basant Vihar area of Kanpur, on Wednesday. He was a former student union president of Pandit Prithvinath (PPN) College.Family members said they went to wake him at 5 am, knocked on the door several times but received no response, after which they broke open the door and found his blood-soaked body inside. The family informed the police. Police said no suicide note was found in the room.In a preliminary investigation, police said it emerged that Alok Singh (50)’s wife lived separately in Lucknow with their daughter. He was very stress and became liquor addict.The deceased lived in Basant Vihar W-2 with his family. Keshav Nath Singh lived in a two-storey house with his three sons Ajit, Alok and Abhay. In 2021, during the Corona pandemic, his eldest son Ajit Singh died. Father Keshav Nath said, “I have a transport business in Naubasta Maurang Mandi. Son Alok also used to help in the transport work. On Tuesday evening, Alok returned home from work. After eating dinner he went to sleep. A loud bang was heard late in the evening, but I did not pay attention to it.”Station in charge Rajiv Kumar said, “The body has been sent for post-mortem. During questioning, it has come to light that Alok was under stress. Police are investigating all aspects.”
