Pune: A 50-year-old woman died after a truck carrying soil turned on its side and fell on her house on Wednesday morning at Katarkhadak village in Mulshi taluka, about 37km from Pune. Another woman suffered injuries in the incident.The police have identified the deceased as Nanda Malpote. The Paud police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the truck driver based on a complaint lodged by the woman’s son. An officer from the Paud police said work on the ring road is underway in Mulshi taluka. “On Wednesday morning, soil was being dumped for the ring road work in Katarkhadak village. Malpote’s house is located along the road. While laying the soil, the dumper turned on its side and fell on Malpote’s house,” the officer said.A wall of Malpote’s house collapsed due to the impact. “Malpote and another woman were stuck under the debris and the soil. Nearby residents rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the women. They managed to get one of them out and send to the hospital. After a while, the residents brought out Malpote from the debris and rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the doctors,” he said.
