Rajkot: A hit-and-run in Jamnagar on Sunday night claimed the life of a five-year-old girl and left her parents critically injured.Abira Sama, 5, died of severe head injuries. The collision occurred near Kalawad Gate when the luxury car, travelling from the opposite direction, hit the motorcycle carrying Abira, her father Israel, and her mother Rukhsad. The family was heading towards the ST Division at the time. According to the FIR filed by Abira’s uncle, Sajid Chauhan, 30, at Jamnagar City A Division police station, the impact threw all three riders off the motorcycle, after which the car driver fled. Sajid, who was following the family on another motorcycle, rushed Abira to hospital with help from a bystander, but the doctor there declared her dead. Israel suffered broken legs, a fractured riband injuries to his lungs and abdomen. Rukhsad suffered a fracture in her right leg and a head injury. Both are undergoing treatment. Police registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 106(1), 281 and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Investigators are searching for the driver.
