COIMBATORE: At least five people were killed in a road accident near Nallampalli Junction on the Pollachi–Palani National Highway in Tamil Nadu‘s Coimbatore district on Sunday.The accident occurred after a speeding car crashed into a stationary lorry.Four of the deceased belonged to the same family from Gurubampalayam near Madukkarai in Coimbatore. They were identified as Kanagaraj, his wife Narmada, and their two daughters Aarthi and Poorani.Police said the identity of the fifth victim is yet to be confirmed. Officials are investigating whether the person was driving the car or was another passenger travelling in the vehicle.The accident occurred near Pollachi when the car allegedly rammed into the stationary lorry. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.(With agency inputs)
