Silchar: A total of five absconding accused were arrested in Sribhumi district during a joint operation by Badarpur police station and Malua police outpost on Saturday night.The arrests were made on the basis of long-standing non-bailable warrants issued against the individuals, who had been evading trial for an extended period.The accused have been identified as Yeasin Ali (35), Abdul Kayum alias Kayum Uddin (32), Rafique Ali (45), Aftar Ali (54), and Kamrul Islam (40) — all residents of different villages under the Badarpur police station.“These individuals were under trial in various cases but were absconding for quite some time. Due to their prolonged absence, the court issued non-bailable warrants against them,” SP (Sribhumi) Partha Pratim Das told the media.Police sources said surveillance was intensified over the past few weeks to trace the accused, culminating in the successful coordinated operation on Saturday night. All five were taken into custody and are expected to be produced before the court shortly.
