Kanpur: Municipal commissioner Arpit Upadhyaya ordered to stop the salary of sanitary supervisor and deduction of one-day salary of the absent workers after finding 46 sanitation workers absent during an inspection visit to Ward-61, Tilak Nagar, on Monday.According to official records, only 17 sanitary workers were present against a muster roll of 63. The commissioner verified attendance through a face recognition machine installed at the post-mortem house. On being questioned, the sanitary supervisor claimed that 52 workers were deputed in the area, while the machine records showed deployment of 63 workers.The commissioner ordered the stoppage of salary of sanitary supervisor Manoj and took action against zone-4 sanitary officer Devendra Kumar for failing to provide clear information and ordered his attachment to headquarters. A show-cause notice was issued to nagar health officer Dr Chandra Shekhar, seeking an explanation for alleged lapses.Later, the commissioner inspected the Ram Lala Temple premises and the route of the upcoming Ram Navami procession. He directed officials to ensure proper cleanliness, carry out patchwork on roads, repair non-functional streetlights, and cover open drains near the temple.During his visit to Rawatpur crossing, Upadhyaya also reviewed the traffic congestion situation. He instructed Zonal Officer Ravi Prakash Singh to relocate the vegetable market and streamline the fruit market near the Medical College crossing to ease traffic flow.
