Times News NetworkChandigarh: With the Tricity reeling under intense humidity for the past few days, the rain on Tuesday came as a breath of fresh air. Maximum temperature in Chandigarh dropped by 5.2 degrees from the previous day to settle at 29.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Chandigarh recorded 1.7mm rainfall during the 24 hours from 8:30pm on Monday to 8:30am on Tuesday. From 8:30am on Tuesday till 5:30pm the same day, the city received 45.6mm rainfall.So far, Chandigarh has received 337.2mm total rainfall since June 1, which is 27% less than normal for this time.Minimum temperature was recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees below normal, with relative humidity touching 98%, making for cool and pleasant weather most of the day.The IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with thunderstorms and rain over Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula for the next five days.Day temperatures are expected to remain between 32 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 24 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.
