Bengaluru: A 40-year-old building in Bakshi Garden, Cottonpet, tilted Thursday afternoon after excavation for the foundation of an adjacent building, triggering panic among residents.No casualties were reported. Fire and emergency service personnel rescued the lone occupant staying on the first floor before the structure was demolished as a precaution.The building comprised a ground floor, first floor, and a sheet-roofed room on the second. A clinic was operating out of the ground floor, while the first floor was being used as a residence. According to Bengaluru Central City Corporation (BCCC) officials, the building was around 40 years old.Police said the structure was demolished after the occupant was shifted to safety.BCCC Commissioner G Jagadeesha said the building tilted because of excavation undertaken for the foundation of an adjacent building that was under construction.
