Four people including a child were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in the southern Krasnodar region, local officials said Wednesday.

Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said another 29 people were wounded in the attack, which took place in Novorossiysk, a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes and a major outlet for Russian oil, petroleum products and grain exports.

Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko said drone debris fell on the premises of a number of businesses and close to a residential building.

In Anapa, another town in the Krasnodar region, three homes and a kindergarten were damaged by falling drone debris, but no one was injured, Kondratyev said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 596 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Airports in more than a dozen regions introduced temporary flight restrictions amid the cross-country drone attacks.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a Russian drone attack on a border crossing with neighboring Moldova killed two people and injured at least three others.

Passenger and vehicle traffic was temporarily halted across the border after the attack, which caused a major fire, officials said.
