Times News NetworkKanpur: Police in Jalaun district solved a month-old burglary in Basrehi village, under Kadaura police station, and arrested four members of an inter-district theft gang on Thursday. During a vehicle check, two of the suspects were wounded in the leg in a shootout with police, while the other two were arrested after a short pursuit. Officers seized illegal homemade pistols, ammunition, lock-breaking equipment, cash, mobile phones, and a car allegedly used in the crime.According to police, the burglary took place on 21 June 2026 at the home of Vimal Singh, a resident of Basrehi village. A case was filed at Kadaura police station, after which local police, SWAT, and surveillance teams began searching for those involved.Police said that on the night of 23 July, officers conducting vehicle checks encountered the suspected criminals. The suspects allegedly tried to escape and opened fire, prompting police to return fire. Rinku Rajput and Raghavendra Rajput were shot in the leg, while their accomplices, Shailendra Yadav and Ankit Rajput, were arrested after being surroundedThe investigation further found that the gang’s leaders had dozens of criminal cases, including theft, registered against them in districts such as Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, and Jalaun.
