Berhampur: Four men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a 45-year-old woman, her son and his two friends at Bhetanai village under Kotinada police station limits in Ganjam district earlier this week on suspicion of theft.The accused were identified as Santosh Kumar Sethy (24), his brother Sushant, Sankar Sethy (38) and Naresh Kumar Sethy (35) — all residents of Bhetanai, police said. “They were arrested based on the woman’s complaint and prima facie evidence,” Kotinada police station’s inspector in-charge, Damodar Bihari, said.Police said efforts are on to trace others involved in the assault.According to the police, some villagers forcibly entered the woman’s house on Tuesday, allegedly dragged out her son and two of his friends, who were visiting, assaulted them and tied them to electric poles. When the woman tried to intervene, she too was tied to the same pole. She later lodged an FIR after being rescued by some other villagers.
