Lucknow: Strengthening its focus on skill-based education, UP govt has decided to provide vocational training to students of Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, run by the social welfare department.Under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission’s (UPSDM) ‘Project Praveen’ for 2026-27, more than 3,000 students across the state will be trained in employment-oriented sectors alongside their regular schooling.UPSDM has assigned the training target to 31 training provider institutions. Students will receive training in sectors such as apparel, IT-ITeS, management and other trades based on their interests and available training options.According to vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship minister Kapil Dev Agrawal, the initiative is aimed at equipping students with practical skills that can pave the way for employment, self-employment and better career opportunities.To ensure quality, each batch will have a maximum of 35 students, while the training duration will be up to 300 hours. Job roles will be verified through the recognised central portals, ensuring students are trained only in approved trades. Study materials will reach students within seven days of batch commencement.UPSDM director Pulkit Khare said, “Our priority is to provide quality training on time so that every student gain practical skill and is better prepared for future employment opportunities.”
