Kanpur: A 35-year-old woman died after allegedly being hit on the head with a heavy object during a domestic dispute in Devrampur village under Kadri Gate police station in Farrukhabad on Tuesday night, police said. The woman’s husband and other family members allegedly fled the spot.The deceased was identified as Meera alias Reena Devi. Police sent her body for postmortem examination.According to police, Meera and her husband, Sunny Verma, had been having disputes over a domestic matter for several days. On Tuesday night, Sunny allegedly took Meera to a room on the rooftop, where the couple argued for some time.Meera’s daughter Durga told police that her mother came downstairs and told her grandparents that she was going to sleep before returning upstairs. After some time, the couple fell silent. Suspecting something was wrong, family members went upstairs and found Meera’s head pressed under a pillow. When the pillow was removed, they found blood coming from her head.Durga alleged that her father pushed her grandparents and fled from the spot. She informed her maternal uncle Bhanu Pratap, who lives in a village under Ganjdundwara police station in Kasganj. Relatives from her maternal family reached Devrampur on Wednesday morning and accused Sunny of killing Meera.Police said the husband and other family members were absconding and efforts were underway to trace them. Meera is survived by four children.
