New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman was found dead in her residence in central Delhi’s Paharganj, with her body lying undiscovered for two days. Family members became aware of the death only after a foul smell began to emanate from her locked room. Her younger sister, peeking through a hole in the door, discovered the body and alerted police.The incident was reported on Saturday, after the sister informed authorities that the woman was lying unresponsive inside her room. Police found the body in a putrefied state on the floor.During preliminary investigation, family members told police that the woman often isolated herself, locking the room for extended periods, which is why they initially did not suspect anything unusual. She had reportedly been suffering from depression for a long time and was described as mentally unstable.The deceased’s father is paralysed, her mother is deceased, and her brother works as a vegetable vendor. Based on the scene and statements collected so far, no signs of foul play have been detected.Police are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
