Ludhiana: With authorities gearing up for the Digital Census-2027, MC commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta held a meeting with senior civic officials at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar to ensure advance ground-level preparations.The first phase of the national census — house listing and housing — will start from May 15. As part of the exercise, enumerators will ask 33 questions from residents during the field survey.MC joint commissioner/nodal officer (Census) Vineet Kumar, zonal commissioners/charge officers, including Amanpreet Singh, Neeraj Jain, Gurpal Singh, Jasdev Sekhon, MTP Vijay Kumar and superintendent Tarun Goyal, were among other officials present in the meeting.MC commissioner Gupta said officers in-charge of the census and others concerned have been directed to actively monitor the situation. During detailed deliberations, officials were directed to ensure that no laxity was tolerated, she added. She also urged people to cooperate with the administration during the process.Questions released by the Union ministryThe questions include building number (Municipal or local authority or census number), census house number, predominant material of the floor of the census house, predominant material of the wall of the census house, predominant material of the roof of the census house, use of census house, its condition and household number.Residents will also be asked about the total number of persons normally residing in the household, name and gender of the head of the household, whether the head of the household belongs to scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/other, ownership status of the census house, number of dwelling rooms exclusively in possession of the household, and number of married couple(s) living in the household.Further questions include the main source of drinking water, availability of drinking water source, main source of lighting, access to latrine, type of latrine, waste water outlet, availability of bathing facility, availability of kitchen and LPG/PNG connection, main fuel used for cooking, radio/transistor, television, access to the internet, laptop/computer, telephone/mobile phone/smartphone, bicycle/scooter/motorcycle/moped, car/jeep/van, main cereal consumed in the household, and mobile number (for census-related communications only).
