RANCHI: Police have lodged an FIR against 300 unnamed people in connection with the August 10 march to the Jharkhand Assembly over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, officials said on Thursday.The case was registered for allegedly violating prohibitory orders, damaging government property and attacking police personnel, news agency PTI reported.“An FIR has been lodged against 300 unknown miscreants at the Vidhan Sabha police station for disrupting the peaceful march to the assembly on August 10,” Ranchi SP Paras Rana said.SDPO (Hatia) Neeraj Kumar said police are now examining video footage to identify those allegedly involved in the incidents during the march.The development comes amid an ongoing protest by job aspirants in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.The students have been demonstrating in the state capital for the past 20 days.The August 10 march witnessed tension between police and protesters near the state Assembly.Police had used force to disperse the crowd after protesters attempted to move towards the Assembly despite security arrangements and prohibitory orders.The police had earlier defended the use of “mild force” during the protest and said CCTV footage and other video recordings would be examined to identify those involved in alleged violence or damage to property.The protesters, however, had alleged that police used excessive force during the action.Several protesters and a Jharkhand Armed Police personnel were injured during the clashes.(With agency inputs)
