GURGAON: A 30-year-old woman died after reportedly jumping from the third floor of a residential society building in Sohna on Friday, with her family accusing her husband of harassment and physical assault, police said.The woman, identified as Deepa, had been married for eight years and had an 8-year-old child.According to police, Deepa was a resident of Shalimar village in Delhi and had married Jitendra, alias Jatin, a resident of Janakpuri, Delhi, in March 2018.Her family said disputes between the couple began shortly after their marriage. The couple later moved to Gurgaon and started living in a flat at MVN Society in Sohna.Deepa’s father said his daughter had been continuously harassed by her husband for the past six months.He further alleged that Jitendra would frequently invite friends over for drinks and mock Deepa in front of them while intoxicated.The woman’s father also claimed that Deepa was beaten and mistreated, which drove her to take her own life.After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and rushed Deepa to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.“Following the complaint, a case has been registered, and the matter is being investigated. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and the investigation”, said a senior police officer.(With PTI inputs)
