Times News NetworkKanpur: Three villagers, including two women, died by drowning after they were swept away while crossing a rain-swollen drain in Gujaini village under Marka police station in Baberu tehsil in Banda district.The bodies of all three were recovered with the help of villagers and local divers.The victims were identified as Kusum, 32-year-old wife of Ramkaran Yadav, Siyarani, 52, wife of Phoolchand, and Komal, 33, residents of Gujaini village. They were returning with fodder for cattle from fields about two kilometres away from the village.At around 6:30 in the evening, the three were crossing the Baha drain that fell on the way, holding each other’s hands, when they were swept away one after another in the strong current.People nearby informed the police and villagers after seeing them being swept away. Villagers, police and local divers who reached the spot found all the bodies at short distances from each other, about 500 metres from the incident site.
