Ranchi: Three minors hailing from West Bengal’s Purulia district, who were allegedly being trafficked to Bengaluru, were rescued from a child trafficker at Hatia railway station on Saturday, railway police said.“During a special drive against human trafficking and child labour, Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued three boys, two aged 15 years and a 14-year-old,” an officer said on Sunday.RPF arrested Nayan Kumar, 27, of Purulia district, in connection with the alleged trafficking of minors.RPF police station in-charge Rupesh Kumar said that during the drive on Saturday, they noticed suspicious movement of four individuals near the station’s main gate.“Further enquiry revealed that three minor boys were being taken to Bengaluru by the trafficker with the promise of jobs. The minors said that they didn’t know the person, and several children from their village were taken to Bengaluru for work in the past,” Kumar said.During interrogation, Nayan said that he supplies labourers to different construction sites in Bengaluru, for which he receives a commission of around Rs 300 to Rs 400 per labourer per month, Kumar added.He told that he received Rs 25,000 from Harihar Kumar online for taking the minors to Bengaluru.“On further interrogation, Nayan stated that he and Harihar were involved in inter-state trafficking of poor children. He was subsequently arrested,” the officer added.
