Prayagraj: A man allegedly crushed to death two of his relatives and their friend who were chasing him on motorcycles in Bindki police station area of Fatehpur district on Sunday night.The incident took place when the accused, Deepak Soni, who was locked in a dispute with his relatives over the custody of a minor girl, was returning after attending a panchayat held at a police outpost to settle the issue.While two people, Manoj Soni and Anu Sonkar, died on the spot, another person, Satyavan, succumbed to injuries during treatment, police said.Superintendent of police, Fatehpur, Abhimanyu Manglik said the accused driver had been taken into custody.He said that Anju Soni of Kanpur had, on April 9, complained to Bindki police that her minor stepdaughter had allegedly been kidnapped by her sister-in-law, Geeta Soni of Bindki.“Police summoned Anju, Geeta Soni, Shashi (Geeta’s daughter) and other relatives to Jonika police outpost on Sunday evening to settle the dispute.“The minor girl’s mother had died in 2021 after which she had been staying with her aunt, Anju. However, three years ago, Shashi, daughter of Geeta, brought her to their house in Faridpur in Bindki,” the SP said.As the discussions to solve the dispute failed to reach any conclusion, the police asked all the parties to take the case to court.“Shashi and her husband Deepak, along with the minor girl, started for their home in a car. Deepak left for his shop after dropping his wife and the girl at home,” the SP said.Deepak found that three people, Manoj (the girl’s maternal uncle) and his friends Satyavan and Anu, were chasing him.Deepak claimed that they attacked his car with a stone and tried to stop him. While Deepak tried to escape, his car hit their motorcycles.“Manoj and Anu died on the spot while Satyavan succumbed to injuries during treatment,” the SP said, adding that a car also hit another bike, injuring a couple and their two children.
