Palanpur: Three people lost their lives and five were injured when a rickshaw collided with a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus near Kharodia village in Banaskantha district on Wednesday.The accident occurred on a single-lane road in Palanpur taluka when the rickshaw, travelling from Vadgam, ran into a GSRTC bus from the Kheralu depot.“Three persons travelling in the autorickshaw died on the spot while five other co-passengers sustained injuries. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital,” Palanpur Taluka police inspector H B Dhandhalia said.Police identified the deceased as Laxman Parmar (20), Galbiben Shrimali (62) and Kankuben Shrimali (60).“Prima facie, it appears the accident occurred when the bus tried to overtake another vehicle, but the exact cause will be known only after the investigation,” the official said.The autorickshaw was completely mangled due to the impact. The bus driver was detained and an FIR was registered.
