Daltonganj: Three police personnel, including a woman constable, were injured under Sadar police station limits of the district on Thursday after locals allegedly pelted stones to block acquisition of land for expansion of NH-39 at Chiyanki.The injured personnel were taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj. While two were discharged after first aid, one cop with a head injury was admitted and underwent a CT scan. His condition is stable and he is under observation. An FIR in the incident was yet to be registered till the evening.Officials said the incident take place despite prohibitory orders which had been put in place a day earlier. The police contingent was deployed to maintain law and order during self-dismantling and vacating of houses and structures obstructing construction of the remaining portion of NH-39.Additional collector Kundan Kumar said the 800-metre patch has houses and structures of 69 raiyyats. “Some raiyyats have their cases pending in the land acquisition court. It comes to 80%,” he said. Many raiyyats have received compensation, officials said. However, some affected raiyyats alleged undervaluation of land, houses and structures for compensation.Sadar sub-divisional officer Rajesh Yadav said normalcy was restored on site. “Police acted in a very controlled manner despite severe provocation by a mob,” he said. “There must be some instigators of the violence behind this ugly situation. Police will trace and track such elements.”
