Kanpur: Police on Thursday arrested an operator of a private hospital, his nephew and a security guard for allegedly killing a 21-year-old woman from Unnao on May 21 and dumping her dead body in Bulandshahr.Police identified the accused as Devkant Uttam, 44, (Private Hospital Operator), his nephew and ambulance driver, Vivek Patel, 24, and his security guard, Ajit Singh.According to DCP Deependranath Chaudhary, the accused Devkant Uttam was allegedly in a relationship with the woman for the past few months, but a dispute was going on between them, in which the deceased was allegedly pressuring him to marry her.DCP informed that the two also had physical relations during which the woman became pregnant few months back. He said that on Aug 1, 2025, Devkant arranged an abortion at a hospital in Kalyanpur in the city.DCP added that the accused also had private photos of the woman, using which he allegedly blackmailed her against breaking the relationship with him.The deceased had lodged a complaint of rape and physical exploitation on May 19 against Devkant Uttam at Kotwali Unnao.Police said that the accused then hatched up a conspiracy plan to eliminate the woman after the complaint was filed.On May 21, he allegedly called the woman at Barra Bypass for a discussion and took her for a ride in a Scorpio vehicle, along with his nephew and the security guard. During the ride, the three allegedly strangled her with a rope and killed her.He later instructed his nephew and security guard to dispose the body. The duo took the body to Bulandshahr district’s, Jahangirabad on May 22, and dumped the body on the road in a naked condition.On May 23, police found the body of an unidentified woman, and after getting no information about her, conducted the autopsy and her final rites on May 24.On May 25, the victim’s mother filed a missing complaint at Barra police station accusing Uttam and his nephew for abducting her daughter.Police swung into action and detained the nephew who confessed to the murder, and dumping the body in Bulandshahr.Police said they traced the body of the deceased, which was found in Jahangirabad, Bulandshahr, and got it identified by the deceased’s family members.Section 140(1) BNS was also added in the case registered at Barra police station, along with existing BNS Sections 103(1)/238/61(2).He said that the three were produced in a court and sent to jail. Police also recovered the Scorpio car, which was used in the crime.
