Chandigarh: A 26-year-old woman was found hanging at her residence in Sector 23 Sunday, police said. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.The deceased was identified as Subhampreet Kaur.On receiving information, a Sector 17 police team reached the house and found Subhampreet Kaur hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta.The woman was immediately brought down and taken to GMSH, Sector 16, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her body has been kept at the hospital mortuary for post-mortem.Police inspected the scene and collected evidence. Officials said no external injury marks were found on the body and no foul play is suspected at this stage.The exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem report is received, police said. Investigators are recording statements of family members and neighbours to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.Sector 17 police have initiated inquest proceedings and further investigation is under way.
