The institute secured a spot in the 2026 Catch Grant, jointly established by the India AI National Cancer Grid (NCG) and the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO).Another project, presented in collaboration with MCC’s incubation centre MIINT (Malabar Cancer Centre Incubation Innovation Nest) and Vellitix, ranked among the top 10 in the country. The initiative, ‘AI Oncology Agent for Evidence-based Summaries, Guideline Support, and Clinical Trial Matching,’ gained national attention, said a press release.The AI Oncology Agent assists in rapidly analysing patient treatment data and helps doctors make precise decisions.Another successful project, ‘AI Tools for Advancing Value-Based Care in Oncology,’ introduced by Doctor Assist AI in collaboration with Malabar Cancer Centre, also achieved significant recognition. This initiative was listed among the top 35 projects in the country, focusing on ensuring effective treatment outcomes at a lower cost through ‘value-based care.’MIINT, the incubation system set up at MCC to boost the growth of med-tech start-ups, was established in 2025. It acts as a crucial bridge connecting innovative ideas in the health sector with practical treatment methods. The centre ensures clinical mentorship, practical clinical validation, and guidance for solving health sector challenges. Currently, 7 start-ups in various health sectors are successfully operating under MIINT, said the release.Dr Satheesh B, Director of Malabar Cancer Centre, and Dr Dheeraj B, Director of Vellitix, received the 2026 Catch Grant from Dr Rajeev Bal, Director General of ICMR, and Mr Krishnan, IT Secretary, at the Bharat Mandap in Delhi.Health minister Veena George congratulated the entire MCC team for their contribution to AI advancements in healthcare.
