The deceased were Ramaraju, 54, his wife Madhavi, 50, and their son Shashank Raju, 24. According to police, at around 3.30 am, Shashank messaged his friend Ravi, informing him that his family decided to end their lives. Ravi saw the message at around 8 am and immediately tried calling Shashank. As there was no response, Ravi rushed to Shashank’s house and found the door unlocked.He found Shashank and his parents dead inside the house. “Ramaraju was hanging to the ceiling fan. In the same room, his wife Madhavi was lying dead on the bed. In the next room, Shashank was hanging to the ceiling fan. He also tried to slit his wrist with a knife before hanging himself,” Additional DCP Secunderabad, J Narsaiah said.Police found a suicide note in the sofa of the hall, which was written by Shashank and signed by his father. “In the suicide note they mentioned that financial problems to be the reason behind the extreme step,” the additional DCP said.During the preliminary probe, police found that the family operated two restaurants in Ramanthapur and Mallepally and incurred about Rs 1.5 crore loss. “They closed the resturants about a year ago due to losses. We suspect that pressure started mounting from those who had given them money and the victims decided to end their lives,” said an investigator.Police shifted the bodies for postmortem after registering a case under section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS. The bodies were handed over to the family after the autopsy. “After the postmortem, forensic medicine experts gave a short opinion saying that Madhavi could have been smothered to death.
