He alleged that several medical colleges and hospital upgrades were approved without basic facilities during the earlier BRS regime.The minister said that MGM hospital’s construction was less than 50% complete when the new govt took charge and that inflated costs were curtailed, saving ₹300 crore of public funds. The hospital, with 35 super specialty departments and advanced cancer and organ transplant services, will be inaugurated soon, he added.“Building codes were violated, and 24 floors were constructed purely for publicity. The hospital area was repeatedly altered from 16.5 lakh to 21.3 lakh sq feet, with frequent plan changes causing delays. No construction work took place between 2021 and June 2022, and even by the end of the previous govt’s term, half the work remained incomplete. After the new govt came to power, the Chief Minister personally reviewed the project several times and reduced inflated construction costs, preventing misuse of ₹300 crore of public funds,” said the minister.Additionally, Rajanarasimha added the present Congress govt filled nearly 10,000 healthcare jobs in 2 years and will complete recruitment for another 7,000 posts soon. Major reforms include hospital modernisation, expansion of dialysis and trauma care services, upgraded Aarogyasri coverage up to ₹10 lakh, and transformation of the healthcare delivery system.
