Patna: A 22-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants on a six-lane bridge in Raghopur-Rustampur police station area of Vaishali district on Wednesday afternoon. Police said they were investigating the motive behind the murder and trying to identify those involved.The deceased, Anshuman Kumar, a resident of Chechar village, was the younger of two brothers and worked as a worker with a mason.According to his family, Anshuman had gone to the newly built bridge to take photographs and selfies when the incident occurred.Vaishali superintendent of police Shubank Mishra said Anshuman was killed in the firing, while another person sustained injuries. The SP said an accident had taken place shortly before the shooting and that the exact sequence of events was being investigated.Anshuman’s brother Gaurav Kumar alleged that a youth from Chechar, identified as Alok Kumar Singh, first hit his brother with a four-wheeler and then fired six to seven rounds at him.The family said Anshuman had no major dispute with anyone and questioned the motive behind the killing.Rustampur SHO Gunjan Kumar said an FSL team was called to examine the spot. He said police had launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting, identify all those involved and ascertain the motive behind the murder.“The family has not yet filed a complaint. The investigation is underway and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence collected from the scene,” he said.
