Pune: A 22-year-old man, who was caught consuming a contraband drug by the Nanded City police last month, chose rehabilitation over punishment on Friday.Nanded City police had registered a case against the youngster, who is unemployed, and stays in the Dhayari area. His parents are casual workers and he used to steal household articles to buy drugs.Senior inspector Atul Bhos said, “On Friday, during the court hearing, the youngster pleaded guilty to consuming drugs. The court then asked the youngster if he wanted to be in prison or needed treatment. The youngster said he wants to lead a good and drug-free life, and chose treatment. The court ordered for him to be sent to a de-addiction centre, where he can receive treatment. He is undergoing treatment at a de-addiction centre and wants to reform himself.”
