Imphal: Speculation of a new political development is currently on the horizon after BJP state president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi called for a meeting of all its legislators at the party office in Imphal on Sunday.The closed-door meeting, headed by Devi, was attended by 22 legislators, including former chief minister N Biren Singh, speaker Satyabrata, MLA Dingko, MLA Kh Robindro, MLA Rameshware and others.The meeting agenda, though not disclosed, is speculated to be on restoring normalcy and the formation of a popular govt. The meeting is expected to bring changes in the political landscape of Manipur.After the closed-door meeting, Biren told media persons that the meeting was just a casual one to analyse the situation, seeing the plight of the people in the state. “We just met over a cup of tea and discussed the existing problems in the state and the way forward to bring peace in Manipur,” Biren said.Biren said the central leadership is evaluating the ground situation in Manipur and that even the NDA govt desires to reinstate a democratic govt in Manipur. However, he said the prevailing circumstances have necessitated the imposition of President’s rule.
