T’puram: A 21-year-old man was found dead in a well near his house at Kottipuram, near Nedumangad, on Monday.The deceased was identified as Ilangovan, son of Vasu and Lissamma.According to Nedumangad police, Vasu had left for work on Saturday morning while Ilangovan was at home. His mother was also away from the house. When Vasu returned in the evening, he found that his son was missing. A search was launched in the neighbourhood, but he could not be traced.During the search in nearby areas, locals found Ilangovan’s body in the well close to the house. The body was subsequently recovered and shifted for autopsy.Police said preliminary inquiries did not reveal any signs of foul play. “The deceased had been undergoing treatment for mental illness. Further probe is under way,” police said.Ilangovan is survived by his parents, and his brother, Ekalavyan, who is a magistrate.Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
