New Delhi: A 21-year-old man died in a road accident near IIT gate no. 1 in south Delhi’s Hauz Khas, with police probing the involvement of a stolen motorcycle recovered from the spot.A senior police officer said that, on April 15, information was received that a damaged motorcycle was lying on the left side of the road before the flyover, on the stretch from Munirka towards Hauz Khas. By the time a police team reached the spot, the injured had already been shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre.Doctors at the hospital declared him dead. The deceased was identified as Abuttallah (21), a resident of Munirka Village.A crime team was called to inspect the spot. Police registered an FIR under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kishangarh police station and initiated an investigation.During the inquiry, the motorcycle involved in the accident was found to be registered in the name of Santosh Kumar, a resident of Kusumpur Pahari. Verification revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen about a month ago, and an e-FIR in this regard had already been lodged at Kishangarh police station.Police are now examining whether the deceased was riding the motorcycle at the time of the accident or if another person was involved. CCTV footage from the area is being analysed, and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events leading to the crash.
