Nagpur: As many as 20 officers and personnel of Gadchiroli police force have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry for their role in successful anti-Maoist operations. The awards were announced on the eve of Independence Day.Among the recipients is Yatish Deshmukh, currently Superintendent of Police, Palghar, who was earlier additional SP (Operations) in Gadchiroli.The medals recognise the force’s performance in encounters at Kedmara in Bhamragad taluka in 2023 and at Kantranagatta in the same taluka in 2024, in which six Maoists were eliminated.One more officer from the district has been selected for the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.In addition, Union home ministry has awarded the Atiutkrisht Seva Medal to 27 Gadchiroli personnel and the Utkrisht Seva Medal to three officers.
