Kanpur: Two friends were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision between a bike and a dumper on the Rura-Shivli road in Kanpur Dehat while they were returning from a wedding on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The deceased were identified as Anurag (32) and Rupendra (30). The injured, Sumit (26), was being treated at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur.Police said the accident took place when the trio was returning from the wedding ceremony of a friend’s sister in the Rura police station area. Anurag was riding the bike with Rupendra and Sumit as pillion riders.While Rupendra died on the spot, Anurag was taken to Hallet Hospital, where he also succumbed to injuries.SHO Sudhir Bhardwaj said a search is underway for the dumper driver.
