Lucknow: Two workers sustained minor burn injuries after a gas cylinder leak triggered a fire at a biryani shop in the Sarojininagar area of Lucknow on Tuesday afternoon, fire department officials said.“The incident occurred around 12.30 pm at a shop being run by Dilshad alias Shibu in front of TSM Hospital in Amausi village under the Sarojininagar police station limits,” the fire department said in a statement.

According to locals, Sufiyan (22) and Afzal (23), residents of Rampur Mathura in Sitapur district, worked at the shop. The eatery remains closed on Tuesdays, and they were cooking for themselves when the incident occurred. Police said the gas pipe allegedly slipped off the stove, leading to flames erupting from the cylinder. The duo tried to extinguish the fire but suffered burn injuries in the process. Both injured youths were rushed to Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Shop owner Dilshad said the fire caused an estimated loss of around Rs 2 lakh.
