Hazaribag: Two persons, including a six-year-old boy, died in separate suspected snakebite incidents in Hazariba district’s Keredari block on Saturday night, triggering protests over alleged lapses at the local community health centre (CHC).Rajan, son of Pappu Kumar of Chattipeto village, was allegedly bitten by a snake while sleeping around midnight. Suman Devi, 30, wife of Guddu Yadav of Badkaam Tola, also died of suspected snakebite around the same time.Relatives said both were taken to the CHC, where only a security guard was present and first aid and antivenom were unavailable. They were shifted to Hazaribag Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.Villagers placed the bodies at the CHC and blocked the road for nearly 10 hours, demanding action and compensation. They also accused medical officer Dr Vinay of treating patients while being intoxicated.Following talks, officials agreed to remove CHC in-charge Dr Nafis Anjum within 15 days and investigate the allegation against Dr Vinay. BDO Vivek Kumar promised better facilities.
